FOOD SECURITY

Quality Education is fundamental to fostering sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life. Positive development outcomes and improved well-being are rooted in pursuing and achieving what individuals value. NFDP is actively promoting lifelong quality education for all people –children, youth, and adults as a part of emergency response and for long-term recovery. We aim to develop an education system that is more resilient and responsive in the face of conflict, disaster, and social unrest. We strengthen education systems both during and after a crisis to ensure life-saving messages reach children and their families, protect children and youth from attack, abuse, and exploitation, support peace-building efforts, and provide both physical and psychological safety to children which is essential to sustainable recovery.

Women and children are majorly the most vulnerable during disasters, often becoming victims of abuse and threats. The New Foundation for Displaced Persons (NFDP) ensures that protection measures are diligently implemented in all interventions involving displaced persons, particularly children and women who are usually victims of violence, abuse, forced labor, discrimination, and exploitation. Despite the incorporation of protective measures into national legislation, absolute protection remains elusive.

At NFDP, we are committed to upholding human rights and the rule of law in our society. We agree/ recognize that every child has potential that must be nurtured and we are dedicated to safeguarding women and ensuring their protection.

Disaster in Africa has severely affected different communities resulting in significant malnutrition among the population of the world. One in every five children is severely malnourished in Africa, making it a leading cause of death in children under five.

NFDP is dedicated to addressing this crisis by partnering with the government and nutritional organizations to distribute micronutrient supplements to expectant mothers and children. Our efforts extend to educating and counselling mothers and caregivers on general hygiene, optimal infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices, exclusive breastfeeding, and total child well-being. Through these initiatives, we aim to prevent, sustain, and reduce the problems of malnutrition.

LIVELIHOOD
NUTRITION

Sustainable livelihood is fundamental to our programmatic approach to achieving the Sustainable Development Goal of No Poverty. We strive to ensure our beneficiaries have access to sufficient safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for a healthy life. About 10 million people are in the critical phases of food and nutrition insecurity. The growing global population, climate change, and rising food costs pose significant challenges to food security. Therefore, strategic measures and responses are essential to improve the living conditions of farmers and the rural population across the globe.

Economic growth is only sustainable if all countries achieve food security, which must include women and other vulnerable and disadvantaged groups. At NFDP, we are committed to enhancing food security by supporting farmers and vulnerable populations with essential resources, agricultural technologies, and other means to build resilience.

EDUCATION

Sustainable livelihood is fundamental to fostering resilience and long-term recovery among affected populations. NFDP focuses on providing essential training, resources, and support to help affected persons rebuild their lives. We prioritize women and other displaced persons ensuring they have access to opportunities that enable them to cope with and recover from crises.

We implement agricultural training, vocational education, and micro enterprises development. We aim to empower our beneficiaries to become self-reliant, enhance resilience, and reduce dependency.
